The Jizera Mountains beech forests are among the true gems of Czech nature. This area was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2021 as part of the extensive international monument Original Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Areas of Europe. A total of 93 localities from 18 European countries are included in it. And it is the Jizera Mountains beech forests that became the first UNESCO natural monument in the Czech Republic.

They cover an area of approximately 27 km² on the northeastern slopes of the Jizera Mountains at an altitude of 350 to 900 meters. It is the most continuously preserved complex of mountain and foothill beech or mixed forests in the Bohemian Highlands, which is also linked to a unique alpine relief with numerous outcrops of granite bedrock.

In addition to their natural beauty, they also have an extraordinary scientific and ecological value. They are living evidence of how beech forests spread from southern Europe to the north after the end of the last ice age. The Jizera Mountains beech forests tell the story of the survival, renewal and adaptability of European nature.
