Jizerske Mountains beech forests
The first UNESCO natural monument in the Czech Republic
The Jizera Mountains Beech Forests National Nature Reserve is the largest protected area in the Jizera Mountains and one of the largest in the Czech Republic. It is situated on the northern slopes of the Jizera Mountains and covers an area of approximately 27 square kilometres. Its uniqueness is evidenced by its inclusion in the UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage List. The Jizera Mountains beech forests thus became the first natural site in the Czech Republic to be included in the list.
