The Jizera Mountains are the first mountain range to be hit by humid air from the Baltic Sea. That is why it often rains here and fog spreads in the valleys, giving the beech forests a mysterious atmosphere.

The landscape is crisscrossed by steep gorges with mountain streams and waterfalls, among which granite peaks rise.
